The MEXT scholarship in Japan is open to people who are enrolled in a graduate program, a professional graduate program, a doctoral program, or who are doing the study as a graduate student at the graduate level from a graduate school. List of Fields:
- For the MEXT scholarship program 2024-2025, you can study or do research in almost any area. However, to find out more, candidates must contact the Japanese embassy in their home country. Candidates must be able to do research at the graduate level in their area of study at different universities in Japan.
- The eligible field of studies does not include subjects that needed practical training at training centers, factories, or companies.
- People who studied medicine, clinical medicine, or dentistry that needed hands-on training in their fields are not eligible until they get the right license from Japan’s Ministry of Health.
Financial Benefits:
MEXT Japan will give research students the following financial benefits:
- Non-regular students who take prep courses will get 143,000 Yen per month. Regular students who are taking studies for a master’s degree or a professional degree will get 144,000 yen per month.
- Those who are in the graduate program will get a stipend of 145,000 yen per month.
- For grantees or candidates doing study in their fields, a monthly stipend of 2,000 to 3,000 yen will be added.
- The MEXT will pay for all of the fees for colleges, entrance, tuition, etc. Economy tickets from one country to the host country will be given to the applicants. In Japan, the MEXT will pay for transportation costs.
Eligibility Criteria:
In order to be chosen for a MEXT award in Japan, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Nationality: Those who want to work in Japan must be from a country that has good ties with Japan. On the site, there is a list of all the Japanese offices around the world.
- Qualifications: For the first phase, candidates must have 16 years of education from recognized schools in a place other than Japan. The scholarship program at Masters
- Bachelor’s degree: Those who have spent three years in college at the same school will be called graduate students.
- Graduate school in Japan: For the first phase of the scholarship program, candidates who have already started a master’s or doctoral study at a Japanese institute are also eligible.
- Doctoral degree (Second Phase): Applicants who have a degree from another country that is the same as a master’s study or professional degree.
- Research Program: Candidates who have finished college and are doing research studies. Doctoral course in pharmaceutical fields: 18 years of study in relevant doctoral courses outside of Japan
- Five years of schooling in places other than Japan for a doctorate in the pharmaceutical field.
- The doctoral program in pharmaceutical fields: 16 years of schooling and study experience at universities and research centers
- Already enrolled: MEXT’s second Phase scholarship is open to people who are already enrolled in one of Japan’s Pharmaceutical schools.
- Age: Those who want to apply for a MEXT grant must have been born on or after April 2, 1989. Health: Applicants must be in good health
VISA Requirements:
If you want to apply for a MEXT grant, you should get a student VISA. If people from outside of Japan live in Japan and have a residency visa, they should have to change their visa to a student visa.
Duration:
The MEXT scholarship in Japan lasts for two years for non-regular students, from March 2024 to April 2026. For regular students, the scholarship ends when they finish their course in their field as research students, which could be any time after the course ends.
Extension Period:
Bright kids who have done really well in school will get an extension of their scholarship.
